garden maintenance

The before and after gallery.

The following pictures are before & after shots of work I've done on gardens that I currently maintain or have maintained in the past.

BEFORE: The lawn was full of thatch and moss. The colouration and health was very poor.
AFTER: The lawn was scarified, given a lawn feed, over seeded and topped dressed.
BEFORE: The lawn was full of thatch and had a real yellowy green colour.
AFTER:  The lawn was scarified, given a lawn feed, over seeded and top dressed.
BEFORE: The customer's previous gardener missed this overgrown area as he entered through the garden gate.
AFTER: Unfortunately, the apple trees have seen better days, large dead sections had to be removed. A Large Buddleia that had collapsed onto one of the apple trees was cut hard back.A mix of weeds, debris and ivy was removed off the pathways.
BEFORE: Predominantly, the lawn area was moss with very little grass.
AFTER: Scarified the area, over seeded and given a lawn feed.
BEFORE: Tree saplings, ivy and brambles had been allowed to grow and take over this area. The customer told me that they used to be able to walk through this area and that you used to be able to see the bluebells when they were in flower.
AFTER: The tree saplings, ivy and brambles removed. A pile of soil levelled and the area over seeded with grass seed. Although the area with grass is still a little uneven, it will be easier to maintain & will improve over time. As you can see, the border to the left with it's metal arches is now visible from this side of the garden. The bluebells under the tree are also now fully visible. I've spread forget-me-knot and honesty seeds on the left border to help give that early splash of colour.
BEFORE: The customer had already done a lot of work removing a lot of the weeds in this area.
AFTER: The wheelbarrow emptied & removed from the stream. The railway sleepers that were being used as a bridge were also removed. The area was then re-turfed & one of the railway sleepers used to create a small weir.
BEFORE: The lawn was full of thatch and a little bit of moss.
AFTER: The lawn was scarified, over seeded and given a lawn feed. There's an area behind the seat that will require grass seed, however, there is work being carried out in this area so this will be done at a later stage
BEFORE: The shrubs and hedgerows just needed a good trim back and the grass given a cut.
AFTER: The shrubs & hedgerows now trimmed. The grass cut and hedge of lawn given a neat edge.
